RGS Cricket Festival - Day 4
Posted On: 11/07/16
Festival Day Four: a win at last for Colchester! Jay Smith was the pick of the CRGS batting – he made his first Festival fifty as CRGS reached 144 against Worcester. 4 wickets for James Nightingale saw CRGS to victory as Worcester were bowled out well short. The most exciting game was on the main square: Lancaster, batting first, posted a respectable but under-par score and Newcastle looked to be reaching it comfortably. Then wickets tumbled, panic set in and it was only a scampered two through cover that saw Newcastle home with two balls and one wicket to spare. At Castle Park, Guildford posted the highest score of the week with Sweet and Thomas both narrowly missing out on centuries. In reply High Wycombe were never quite in contention and fell 61 short.
An excellent day’s cricket was finished off by a BBQ for players and staff in evening sunshine – many thanks to the CRGS parents (not forgetting Caspar and Scarlett) who provided the food, hulled 400 strawberries and manned the BBQ.
