Match Funding
There is a fantastic scheme whereby employers provide funding for organisations such as the PTA through their employees. It is a very simple yet immensely useful tool from which extra funding can be raised for our school. Generally speaking, banks and building societies, insurance companies, supermarkets, utilities providers, phone companies and car manufacturers are known historically to offer match funding schemes. Please contact your Human Resources department to find out if they operate a matching gift scheme. In most cases, the company will match your donation pound for pound up to a specific level.
As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility programs, many companies encourage staff to get involved in community projects, including School Fairs, Fireworks Nights, Bake Sales etc, by offering to match any funds they raise.
This matched funding is a really easy way to increase our fundraising revenue and can easily add as much as £2,000 to the takings of one of our events. We are fortunate to have parents at the school who work for companies that do match funding including Barclays, Reuters, NatWest, BP, GSK, Royal Bank of Scotland, Shell and Sky. So, if you work for any of these, ask your HR department how you can get your company to match fund a H.S.A event. And, if you work for a company that isn’t listed above, it’s still worth asking the HR department if they do match funding or even if they are prepared to start doing it!
