Old Colcestrian Tom Cullen 100 Not Out
Posted On: 24/02/17
Oldest living Old Colcestrian Tom Cullen MBE, who left CRGS aged 17 in 1934, recently celebrated his 100th birthday in the company of his two sons and many of his 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The cake, made by the family, was decorated with mementos of aspects of Tom's long and eventful life. It included a miniature rugby ball and cricket items, reminders of his sporting prowess at CRGS and beyond, as well as a lock to symbolise his incarceration by the Nazis and his escape across the frozen moat of the fort at Torun during the Second World War. Fuller accounts of Tom's achievements can be found in recent Colcestrian magazines (numbers 208 and 209).
