Old Colcestrian Summer Reunion and Cricket

The Old Colcestrian Society held their annual summer reunion at the school on Saturday 15th July. The day began with the AGM in the library, followed by refreshments and musical entertainment in the George Young Building, where we had the pleasure of listening to virtuoso performances by Jack O’Gorman, Toby Davies and Praneesh Kathirvel. Afterwards, we planted 10 metal poppies in the garden of remembrance to commemorate CRGS pupils who died around this time 100 years ago during the First World War.
We enjoyed a splendid lunch at the field courtesy of Patti Humbles, and we watched the annual OCS vs CRGS cricket match. We were joined during the day by the Headmaster, School Vice Captain Alexander Thompson, former Headmaster Ken Jenkinson and Jackie and special guest and Old Felstedian Richard Cullen, son of oldest living OC, 100-year-old Tom Cullen. An encouraging mix of young and old OCs at the event included the two previous School Captains, Chloe Stevens and Matt Watson.
During the day, President Sean Bunch's highly successful presidency of the society came to a conclusion and he handed over to Trevor Hearn, our President for 2017-18. The outgoing President conferred the distinction of Honorary Life Vice Presidency on long-serving OCS committee member Harry Carlo, and the Chairman Colonel Richard Kemp marked an incredible 49 years service at the school by Head Groundsman Pete Bannister and granted him honorary OC membership.
