Congratulations to Sol Hyde (Year 12) who was awarded Runner-up Prize in the Corpus Christi Cambridge Dixit Economics Essay Competition. All entries had to respond to the question 'Domestic inflation is, in part, influenced by global conditions. How do global factors influence domestic inflation, and what challenges do central banks face when maintaining domestic price stability in the face of global forces?' There were over 200 entries and it was the first time that the school has won a prize in this competition.
The assessors were very impressed with Sol’s work and he was invited to attend an informal prize giving ceremony on Saturday 5th May at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. The day involved a presentation, a lunch in the hall, a tour of the college and an opportunity to meet current undergraduates. Sol found writing the essay interesting as it combined his classroom knowledge with wider reading. He commented 'it’s a privilege to receive this award and I really enjoyed expanding my knowledge on economics.' Well done!
