World Book Day

On Thursday 7th March, members of staff dressed up as book characters for World Book Day, an event marked in over 100 countries all over the world celebrating authors, illustrators, books and, most importantly, reading.
Lower School students were given a commendation if they could correctly guess a member of staff’s character. Do you know who they are dressed up as?
A competition was also held to match up a member of staff with their favourite book and, in different departments, teachers put up notices to show what they are ‘currently reading’.
In the library, a book and cake sale was held at lunchtime, with many staff and students going along to support the World Book Day charity.
The Sixth Formers will be pleased to know that next year they will be allowed to join in with dressing up as book characters! Therefore, next year, CRGS will be invaded by even more fictional characters and it promises to be a much bigger, very exciting event!
