CRGS makes the front page of the Daily Telegraph!

The Daily Telegraph reported on its front page today that, according to an analysis of DfE statistics, CRGS is the top performing school in the country for A levels and that the top state schools are outperforming the top independents in this regard. CRGS has always set out to be a beacon of excellence for A level education and is pleased to see the newspaper recognise its achievements. The official performance tables are published in January every year, and CRGS has a track record of outstanding performance in the government tables.
Headmaster Ken Jenkinson comments: 'We are delighted with this public recognition of our academic success but are wary of crude comparisons with other fantastic schools. There are brilliant schools in all sectors, and it is a question of standards and not of systems. In any of the top-performing schools academic success will be a by-product of the ethos of the school and reflect a focus on personal development, character and resilience. It is no coincidence that the top schools all have great sport, music and drama as well, because in order to be successful, students need to be happy and lead a balanced life first. Our busiest and most positive students are always our most successful.'
Libera Assini (photographed with fellow A level students in 2014) is an example of a girl who was a senior prefect, a member of orchestra and fully involved in the wider life of the school. She just happened to have a wide range of academic interests and took up the opportunity to pursue extra subjects at the school. She ended up with 9A*s and 2As at A level last year, a performance that I doubt we will see bettered in any school.
